Nuwara Eliya

The coolest place in Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya is a green community with a British accent in the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea heartland. Tea plants are beautifully groomed on almost every slope. The mock-Tudor buildings and velvety golf courses harken back to the days when this was the British’s favorite getaway after defeating the Kandyan Kingdom and gaining control of Sri Lanka. The location is less than three hours north of Kandy, and while many people like to go by rail, we can also arrange for you to travel by vans, which will allow you to take side trips with time to pause and take in the scenery at your leisure.

Horton plains, moon plains, visiting around the tea estates, Ambewela Farm adds more color to your visit to Nuwaraeliya. Traveling along winding roads and lush green valleys, tea farms on the slopes and banks of the hills, little streams and water falls, and lovely misty mountains, one might arrive in Nuwara Eliya town, which has everything that any other town has plus more.

Its distinct temperature, which is sometimes blanketed by an early morning mist and the chilly, tangy air, as well as its fresh and energizing ambiance, provides a classic English setting. Nuwara Eliya, which is surrounded by some of the most magnificent tea farms, also boasts a golf course, a racing course, horses, rose gardens, and British style villas, all of which combine to provide a wonderful vacation escape.
