Udawalawa Safari

You’ll observe elephants strolling, looking to their young, grazing, and generally going about their daily business on a herd of over 650 elephants scattered across 30,821 hectares (119 square miles) of land – and it’s simply amazing! These creatures are gorgeous and majestic. You can go very near to them here…we could have stared at them for hours…

Buffalos, dramatic peacocks, jackals, civets, mongooses, deer, boars, and many different types of birds may all be found at Udawalawe. You could even get lucky and glimpse the elusive leopard family that roams these regions if you have a knowledgeable guide with you.

The best thing is that, unlike other national parks in Sri Lanka, such as Yala, Udawalawe attracts significantly less visitors, giving it a more intimate feel.
